This past week I have been out of town for my day job…. yep, I said it. Other than shooting weddings on the weekends and portrait sessions weekday evenings I do have a full-time job. I stay very busy but it’s a good thing since my husband is in college and he has very little free time too. So all week I was with Lisa riding through Illinois, Iowa, and Nebraska to Omaha. I have never really traveled on the road through the mid-west. I also didn’t really believe when people have said it’s flat and there is absolutely nothing to see… I normally see what others don’t through my camera after all. In this case though the general public is correct. I only saw a few things worth noting.
#1 Wind Farms. These were everywhere!
#2 Variety of Beverages Options!
I’m a big fan of Dr. Pepper…. surprisingly it’s hard to find most places I go. However, Dr. Pepper was all over our route. Not only Dr. Pepper though but gas stations offered the full line of Coca-Cola drinks & Pepsi along with 6 different flavor splashes. The variety didn’t end here though… when I wanted a hot chocolate they had mini marsh mellows and even a whipped cream station. To top it off in the summer time it’s only a penny an ounce!!! So a 32 ounce drink is just that – 32 cents! Wow. Wish everywhere was like that! I spotted this t-shirt and had to share….
#3 Lisa, Lisa, Lisa….
Lisa really made the trip fun! She is the salesperson I was traveling with in the Midwest. We laughed & ate very well…. I even helped her win free pasta! I don’t know why but I tend to win fish bowl drawings for food all of the time. I told her to drop her card in a pasta place we stopped to have lunch. I touched the card for her and that very night she got the call!!! Here Lisa is pictured with a fingerprint and 4 color job we supported at Omaha Box. This was a HOT day in a shop with no air… we all looked good for a long day in the heat!
