Sullivan Family | Oak Openings

Last time I visited Oak Openings Park I was attacked by a swarm of mosquitoes! Good fortune was with us this week for the Sullivan Family. I was super excited that ALL of the family came… including the furry member!  🙂  Sparty isn’t even a year old and was so well behaved and relaxed. I kept getting different expressions from him. I loved this one in particular.

We had perfect weather…. Oak Openings is a great place to come for an afternoon. It features a short trail around Mallard Lake and docks for fishing. We walked around the Lake (“pond”) for these next few shots.

There’s just something so timeless about black and whites.

Sparty giving the “one eye.”

I love this one of the family with the lake in the background with all the reflections.

Kelly, I know your girls will treasure this picture in years to come. So sweet!

Can’t forget to get “romantic” shots of Mom & Dad! After all I do specialize in wedding photography. Watch out moms and dads when you book a family portrait session with me! Can’t let you leave without seeing some fireworks! More fun shots in their gallery.

These were two of the last photos from our session as we completed the circle trail around the lake. It was a great day for taking pictures! Thank you Sullivan family! Didn’t they look nice??? I try to steer my families away from wearing all one color top and one color bottoms. Kelly did an EXCELLENT job dressing her beautiful family.

(Rotate screen) This year I was a bit ambitious. In-between school drop off and pickup one day - I designed a “look book” for the sunflower festival. There is a spread that shows how the lighting in the field changes by the half hour and sun vs overcast days. I’ll have a copy at the photo sign in table and my pod for those that would like to turn it’s pages… and maybe even see yourself as I know I have a lot of repeat clients each festival 🌻
Every wedding has that photo… this was theirs.

The one that somehow holds everything—the energy, the calm, the just-married feeling you can’t quite put into words.

But the truth is, it’s never just one moment.
It’s a whole in-between chapter.

The quiet moments, the laughter, the “what do we do with our hands?”
The way it all unfolds naturally when you’re just being together.

Part 1: finding the light, settling the nerves, easing into it.
Part 2: where the magic sneaks in ✨

This is what your portrait gallery can feel like.
