Tahlia + Josh’s tropical North Queensland wedding at Alamanda Great Barrier Reef Chapel in Palm Cove was their “take-two” thanks to Covid shutting the world down the week of their planned wedding in 2020. One year later and they just squeezed in before another unplanned lockdown in Queensland. We are so happy for you both that this time all of your loved ones and friends were present!!
This was our first flight (“big trip”) since Covid as well and this time we were dragging along a toddler! When we picked up our car rental we were given a scare story of the dangerous coconuts at Palm Cove and did indeed purchase the extra car rental coverage. Haha. Apparently your car is more likely to be hit by a coconut than anyone sighting a crocodile. Who knew!
The day started out relaxed…. although the groomsmen would say otherwise!! “The suspenders broke, the boutonniere pins broke, the pocket squares were falling out of the jackets, and Josh realised the Marvel character socks he had bought were actually for children…. It’s a wonder how it all pulled together. There were a few bobby pins and brand new Kmart belts involved!” But the boys were full of laughter despite any mishaps. At opening their customized glasses they pretended the best part was the bubble wrap!
The ladies on the other hand were having a morning of perfection. Everything fit, everyone was gorgeous. Tahlia’s gown was describe as having “TWO LAYERS of SPARKLE” and was even more special and loved after waiting the additional year to be a bride in her dress! Tahlia’s favorite part of the day was, “the moment we saw each other during the walk down the aisle. It was knowing we had made it; all the stress from the last year and all the planning was worth it.” You can see this moment in their photos. Tears were shed and ear to ear smiles from both Josh + Tahlia.
Not long after the ceremony heavy winds hit the beach. We all quickly paraded around then hid for cover! As soon as it came it left so we were able to drive down to the jetty/headlands for some last sunlit imagery! The beachfront reception at Nu Nu was all you could ever dream with the styling of north tropical vibes – hanging bananas, pineapples, and lush greenery intermixed with wax candles.

Tahlia + Josh’s love story:
We went to high school together, but never actually spoke. Tahlia moved away from Brisbane to Cairns with her family right after she graduated. When she moved back down for work a couple of years later, we reconnected through mutual friends. If Tahlia’s best friend Keralyn hadn’t started hanging out with one of my best friends Stephen, we might never have met again. It was fate.
