I met Alyssa + Josh by chance with a google internet search for “Dallas Wedding Photographers.” Because of my business name I’m very popular on google searches in Dallas, Texas. I can’t tell you how many times I get inquires from Texas brides or newbie photographers wanting to intern! However, every now and then I do find a fellow adventurous soul that loves travel and likes the idea of a destination wedding…and I have the privilege to tell their story. LOVED LOVED LOVED being apart of your celebration and family festivities! It’s not every day I get to snorkel off the reef and tell people I’m really “working.” To see Alyssa + Josh‘s entire wedding collection CLICK HERE.

HOW DID YOU MEET? Groom – We met by chance while I was visiting someone I knew from college. Bride – It was literally a once in a lifetime chance because he lived in Dallas and I lived in central Texas (not a native-Texan) with no interest or intent on ever visiting Dallas. If he didn’t come along for the “Looong” ride for his friend to visit their college friend for the weekend – who randomly was my roommate (3 random roommates all together because of the same Grad program), we literally never would have met.
TELL US ABOUT THE PROPOSAL? Groom – I proposed on vacation in Breckenridge, Colorado on a gondola going up a mountain. Bride – He asked me if I wanted to keep traveling and going on adventures together for the rest of our lives.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN TOGETHER? 5 years
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC FOR YOUR WEDDING? We knew we wanted a destination, but didn’t want Mexico. We looked around at a bunch of different islands and the DR was the most affordable for us and extremely gorgeous, plus we knew a lot of people who had been there so we had good reviews!
WEDDING DETAILS – Cookies, personalized watches for wedding party, welcome gift bags for every guest (filled with sunglasses, matches, magnet bottle opener, hangover kit, snacks), guest book sign.
WHAT WAS THE ONE THINK YOU JUST HAD TO HAVE FOR YOUR WEDDING DAY? Each other (cheesy, we know!) But there wasn’t much else that was a necessity for our wedding besides us and our family.
WHAT WAS THE FUNNIEST MOMENT OF THE DAY? Watching my dad (Eric) dance during the reception.
WHAT WAS THE MOST SPECIAL MEMORY FROM THE DAY? Josh – The whole day and being able to spend it surrounded by everyone. Alyssa – Mine was actually the sunrise session, it was almost an extension of the wedding but very intimate between Josh and I, and I was actually feeling well!
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE OTHER BRIDES-TO-BE? Don’t stress about the details, I was fairly stress free when it came to the details and it was pretty easy, but I still could have let go of a lot more stress of other small details as well.
SPECIAL THANKS TO… Both our sets of parents for helping to make this all happen, especially my dad (Eric), who got ordained to marry us! Also to everyone who was able to come out and share this wonderful and exciting weekend with us!
