Anna and Angus are some of our MOST favourite people in all of Australia. Both have infectious personalities that are always up for shenanigans. They are your “what if” you accidentally killed a person and needed help burying the body friends. Haha. …and I should mention they chose Boggo Road Gaol for their venue! The vibe of the day is like a scene out of Outlander. Epic.
Anna “uncharacteristically” arrived early to the ceremony and ironically had to hide out in the police station across the street from the gaol. (that might have been my fault!! Lol I said don’t be late… so many awesome photos to take!!!) It was my wish that time would stand still for them both during the ceremony and Anna indeed said she was “blown away by how magical the ceremony was…[and] feeling completely enveloped by love and support by our wonderful families and friends.” Boggo Road Gaol bound Anna and Angus for a life sentence as ‘in-mates.’ Two people couldn’t be more guilty of love. Lol. Couldn’t resist.

Any funny stories from the lead up to the wedding? Meeting Mum in the car park at ‘our usual spot’ to go to a dress fitting on the Gold Coast and being in entirely different locations.
What was your favourite detail from the day day? I love that I went into the wedding planning with a certain style and somewhat boho theme in mind but wanted to collaborate with Angus so his stamp was on the wedding too. We ended up with very unique invitations and favours as a result that neither of us would have chosen separately. We both put a lot of love and work into these and I’m very proud of our uniquely ‘us’ collaborations.
Anything you are really glad you did? My bouquet is so special!!! Angus’s brother made it for me! It made me tear up so many times. I suggested to him coffee roses would be nice to bring out the brown tones, rather than the pink. And white didn’t match the dress. Miraculously there were coffee roses shipped in from Ecuador on the day he went to the supplies shop. We had not seen anything like it in the lead up.
All good love stories start somewhere; tell us how and when you met… As a birthday present to myself in 2014 I decided to join a ‘Meetup’ movie group – I was missing going to the movies and wanted people to share that with. I was surprised at how fun the group was and soon found myself going every Wednesday even if I wasn’t interested in the movie – should’ve known something was up! Over Christmas I had some time away from the group but started up again early the next year. Angus was delighted I had come back and immediately connected us on FB. He asked me to a movie soon after, I said yes then freaked out and rang my best friend who said ‘What are you worried about? He sounds just your type!’ Turns out she was right! Angus probably has a different perspective on this story!
What was the inspiration behind your wedding style? Our style was heavily influenced by the historical building we chose as the venue. Angus’s Scottish heritage and love of wood, and Anna’s love of succulents and the dress she found also inspired many of our choices.
Do you have any words of wisdom to offer other couples? Choose things that you love as individuals and work together to meld them to make a truly unique and special day.
Glennn and I were absolutely heartbroken when their chosen date was when we were out of town shooting another wedding, but our other ‘besties’ aka associate ‘awesome’ photographers Sam, Stephen, and Mick captured their ‘vibes’ to perfection! …and I still get to do all the glorious photo editing and share!
