I was so excited when Lysandra agreed to swap photography services while I was visiting Hawaii! This past week I met her family for their session and was surprised to hear they hadn’t had a portrait taken of them since her children were babies! Even more surprising they hadn’t had any portraits of just them since their wedding!!! I’m sure most of you reading this right now are trying to remember the last time you scheduled family portraits too, right? It’s important!!! I have made the commitment to myself to do this at the very least… once a year! Lysandra, thank you for being my photographer this year and thank you for having me photograph your cool family! Here are some of my favorites from our time together at Kalama Beach Park in Kailua, Hawaii.
This was a nice park because there were shady spots on the way to the beach for portraits.
I first connected with Lysandra through Operation: Love Reunited’s database finder. She is a fellow photographer that donates her time and talent… FOR FREE… as a gift to deploying military. She started out as a pet photographer… you can see her love for animals all over her website at Lysandra Cook Photography.
Here are some of my favorite candids of the family…
Love the looks from Zoe & Ben!
Natural models! It helps that mom is a photographer. 🙂
So the wedding photographer in me had to get the “romance” captured!
My favorite shot of Lysandra and Brian!
The beach today was extremely windy and sun kept fading from bright to shade… but we managed to get some fun shots between squints and tousled hair! 🙂
…and when all else fails… shoot feet! ha ha ha.
… and take a walk!
…and kiss!
Couldn’t resist some black and whites…
When I asked the family what they enjoyed doing together it was quite an extensive list! I could see and hear the love they share together. I managed to get a interesting picture of Ben doing martial arts (sorry Ben! I’m not fast enough for your Ninja speed!!) and several shots of Lysandra & Zoe doing traditional island dances. You can see their full gallery by clicking HERE.
Some last few favorites and head shots for mom & dad!
Thank you again Lysandra for having me photograph your beautiful family! Mahalo! 🙂
