This week I flew out to Phoenix, Arizona to second shoot with the fabulous Denise!!! Denise traveled all the way to Cape Cod last October to second shoot for me and we had so much fun I knew another trip would be awesome. This time I came to her and assisted. I absolutely LOVE second shooting. If I could do this and support myself full-time I would honestly be a second shooter instead of a main. First, no stress. The main is expected to get all the “must have” shots. So my job is really to get what the main cannot do. This is the freedom I love!! I was always conscious of what lens Denise was using so I would be at the opposite spectrum (wide/telephoto, etc.) I also was at a completely different perspective and at times even style! She had off camera lighting set-up at the reception so I decided to shoot the entire reception with (don’t panic) NO FLASH! Yep. There was a lot of available ambient light so I wanted to catch the hue of the evening…which happened to be colorful! There are also parts of the wedding the main just doesn’t have time for… so I made sure I covered. Simple things like individual/couple photos of the bridal party. (Important to them… they spent all morning on up-dos too!) Then details, details, details of the entire day. Finally, HUMAN interaction. Sounds funny but it’s true. The main shooter’s primary objective is to capture the bride and groom through all the main events. Little time is available to capture guest reactions. I also as a bonus captured video throughout the day. Definitely watch the media feature…. My new favorite song…. The couple’s first dance selection is featured on the video. Enjoy!
