Hawaii Part 1 | Personal

I took off for 10 glorious days to Oahu, Hawaii!!! The plane didn’t crash like LOST.  🙂  For those that watched, it was filmed here on Oahu. This trip started out to be just my husband and I. We haven’t had a week vacation alone since our honeymoon. Family/Friends love to travel with us. wink wink. (you know who you are…) So in January we thought the only way we could vacation alone was to re-vist Hawaii as we purchaed our tickets. Not long after we found out Josh’s brother was going to be stationed in Hawaii. At that point both of our mom’s begged (I should elaborate… more like big crocodile tears) to come along. So here we are in Oahu on our vacation with family having another VERY memorable trip!

Our first rainbow sighting….

Here is the morning view from our cabin overlooking the bay. A few seconds earlier it was a brilliant red right on the tops of the mountains, making it look like firey volcanos!

Here is another veiw from the beach just below our cabin. We wake up between 5-6am every morning so I can get great morning shots like these. The rainbow was a full circle but when I was ready to take the shot the fog blocked the entire view. You can’t see it in this picture but from the balcony and with binoculars you can see “The Black Pearl” from the filming of “Pirates of the Caribbean.” They filmed all night for three nights. It was easy to spot at night especially because of the gigantic soft boxes of light they had hanging from cranes.

“The Black Pearl” up close. You can see one of the soft boxes to the right near the back of the ship. No actors were present this day… only stunt men were being filmed.

In the morning we take walks to our beach. It’s just across the street and we are normally all alone … so I say it’s our beach. 🙂 You can see Pyramid Rock in the distance. We are staying on the USMC base cabins so we are away from the hub bub of Waikiki.

Lots of curious looking plants along our stroll.

These are especially interesting to me…

Ahhhh…. sunrise on the beach.

We love to visit the crabs each morning. They are so much fun to watch and haven’t chased us yet!

More to come… off for our Luau!! We are having one at our cabin with authentic Hawaiian food and a local musician! 🙂
