Las Vegas at night on top of the Eiffel Tower Ride. I waited quite awhile to see the Bellagio’s Fountain show from above.
Next I went to the older part of Vegas for the Fremont experience.
Forget the slot machines…I would play the Lobster machine all night! I love seafood.
My new Las Vegas shades… I could only get away with wearing these in Vegas.
My friend Melanie told me about Red Rock Canyon… a little off the beaten path. This park is only 20 minutes from downtown Vegas. Worth the drive to really “see” Vegas.
Love the wild flowers… Orange is one of my favorite colors.
The park has trails to hike but is also a easy drive with stop offs to get shots like these next few. We didn’t hike as I was wearing my favorite flip flops.
Not sure what plant died but I thought this was interesting. Reminds me of the creatures the mermaids turned into in Disney’s The Little Mermaid.
A classic desert photo.
I really like this photo of my parents.
We actually didn’t go horseback riding… we just so happened to drive past a ranch.
We continued our drive to the Hoover Dam. The first time I visited back in ’03, I remember being amazed at the engineering involved in generating electricity. This was the time before they stopped offering tours of the dam… so we were able to go in the actual plant and see everything. The main thing I remember is the part about the floor. It was a type of mineral that was very priceless now and would be impossible to do again. You’d think I’d remember something a little more important.
The dam was really low. Someone said they started to sell rights to the water upstream and haven’t been able to keep the dam filled since. Last time I was here it was filled.
My Dad loves to watch Pawn Star on TV. The dad was in the shop today so of course we had to take a photo with our first celebrity sighting! I don’t know if anyone remembers the episode on the treasure chest… but here it is in the shop! This is probably one of the few episodes I saw… there was a old musket hole going through the chest. Priced at $10,000.
The first part of the week we stayed at the Paris. The cab driver recommended Battista’s Restaurant which was next door…
Here my friend Eden is showing amazed on lookers how stretchy her cheese is on her dish! This place was fun to dine. An accordion player came around and asked where we were from… he did this for each table and played a regional tune. Most of our table was from the south so he played, Georgia On My Mind…. Every meal comes with a Cappuccino! This was my first… tasted like hot chocolate to me!
The famous sign… I was trying out a little off camera flash… my dad was the tripod. ha ha. We went to Fremont Street again for Cinco de Mayo. There was a pretty good band playing called The Sinners. Or maybe that’s just their Las Vegas name? Eden is sporting Elvis shades…
My mom, friend Eden, and myself… a little photo crazy in front of the Fabulous sign!
Ever heard of the bone yard? Also called Las Vegas’ Neon Museum? We really lucked out to get a tour!! They only take a limited number of people and there are waiting lists… We just so happened to get a call the day of because a few others had canceled. Wooooowho!
The Neon Museum exists primarily from donations and photographer fees. The tour is simply a tour. You are not allowed to profit or take commercial photographs. They allow network media such as photographer blogs and facebook posts but that’s it… otherwise you have to pay for a session time to publicize and sell photography taken here. I think it would be worth the fees though for some amazing wedding shots! I always feel a little out of my element when I’m not photographing couples… While we were walking through I kept thinking… this would be cool for this this this this and this… but no models!!
I love the nostalgia of the light bulbs.
Too cool.
